Thread: CLC Sport Tandem for sale $1,550

I've dismissed the Chesapeake Light Craft Sport Tandem as a viable boat for WaterTribe Challenges but do believe it is great for shorter races where comfort is less of an issue.  PrairieDog and I will paddle a CLC Shearwater Double for the NCC.  Is anyone interested in the Sport Tandem?  Send me an email if interested in pictures.

I didn't think that the Sport Tandem was that much smaller than the CLC Tandem.  Hammerstroke used a CLC Tandem for '09 EC and it was a great boat.

CLC makes both the Chesapeake Double/Triple and the Sport Tandem.  The Sport Tandem is not related to the Double/Triple.  It is actually a stretched version of the NorthBay; which is my primary kayak.  Where the Chesapeake Double and Triple measure 21' x 30", the Sport Tandem measures 21'8" x 22".  It is a kayak better suited for shorter races than what the WaterTribe typically hosts.  I think I read a little about Hammerstroke's or some others experience with the CLC Double/Triple.  It has proven itself to be a contender in WaterTribe races.  The Pygmy Double/Triple has also proven to be a good choice.

PrarieDog and I are paddling a CLC Shearwater Double in the NCC this September.  It measures 18'6" x 27".  What I like about it is the waterline length is 98% of its overall length, it has a modest beam and a multichine hull.  The result is an efficient cruising boat for its length, with a low wetted surface area, and we have yet to capsize it unlike the Sport Tandem, but that's another story...  We have also determined it will hold enough gear for a 100 mile race but are unsure of its viability for an Everglades Challenge.  I'm still working on my wife for that one.  Perhaps I should change my WaterTribe name to: "IfShe'dLetMe"?
