Overview
For years WaterTribers have been asking for shorter
challenges that could be
completed in a day or a weekend, serve as training for the longer
challenges, and be
challenging in their own unique way. The WaterTribe point series is
designed to accomplish all of these goals.
Point series races are open to all classes and
divisions of WaterTribe.
Point series races will be run throughout the season and in multiple areas of the
country so everyone can participate.
Each point series race will provide participants with
several choices for a fun and challenging day. Two or more loops will be provided with nominal distances between 5 and 50 miles. Participants can choose the loop they prefer.
- Courses range from 5 to 50 miles.
- Each event will feature a short loop and a long loop. Some events will provide
even more choices.
- Cost is $35 per paddler
Points are awarded according to the number of miles
completed and bonus points are awarded for 1st, 2nd, and
3rd for the longest loop of the course. Note that
bonus points are not awarded for the shorter loops.
Note that you must complete a loop or a challenge to
earn any of the points available.
The point series ends each season with the inclusion
of the Ultra Marathon and Everglades Challenge into the
point series. Participants in these two races earn
points for the number of miles completed and bonus
points for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd.
The award ceremony for the point series is in Key
Largo right after the Everglades Challenge award
ceremony.
Points can be redeemed for the final race of the season,
the Everglades Challenge. See redemption rules in the
Everglades Challenge section. Each point is redeemed
at a value of $0.50 per point. Points of no actual monetary value. Points
cannot accumulate from one season to the next - use em or lose em.
