Yesterday I scouted East Beach at Fort Desoto to see how it looks for Launch Day. It actually looks great and I suspect lots of sand was brought in. There is a sand berm roughly 3 feet high and 45 degree angle between the beach and the parking lot. This could be difficult for Classes 4, 5, and 6 ...

I just heard that East Beach at Fort DeSoto is open!!!! The boat ramp is also open, but they are still doing some work on the docks.

This means the two BootCamps are on so make some plans to attend. I cannot wait to get started.

Many thanks to the WaterTribers who came out yesterday to help cleanup Fort Desoto. It was very hard work, but we got it done! At least for the section of East Beach assigned to us. We dug up lots of timber, fully buried benches and lounge chairs, roof tops, sections of decks, sections of docks ...

We have a group of 10 WaterTribers who will be helping to cleanup Fort De Soto after the hurricanes. This group is full so we can't take any new volunteers. The Florida BootCamp is open for registration. We will be meeting at Shelter 14 on two dates:

• Saturday, 1/11/2025 for Classes 1, 2, and 3
• Saturday, 1/25/2025 for Classes 4, 5, and 6

Some will camp on Shell Key Friday night. I plan to camp Saturday night. See details in the main site.
