From NateDog and Andyman
"First time in front of TwoBeers.
Don’t think it will last long, but when you’re sailing along side the best of the best, it feels great."

Quick update on team MolaMingo since I’ve been delinquent on posting. We had a long slog to CP1 with very light wind and adverse current pretty much the whole way. We were tired, my knees were shot after pedaling for 30 hours straight and the math of averaging 2 knots was not going to get us to Key Largo in time. We dropped at CP1 - bummed but there is always next year! Cleaning things up today and will head to Chokoloskee, Flamingo and Key Largo starting tomorrow. I’ll post more pics soon!

From SandyBottom:
Soooo, not a good WaterTribe year for me. I decided to drop at checkpoint 1, about 64 miles from the start. It was a combination of my fault, and the conditions (light winds).
Since I hadn’t really paddle trained for this, I chose to sail in Alan’s (SOS) sailing canoe. The winds were so light, I ended up paddling most of the 1st and 2nd day anyway. And i really hadn’t spent enough time sailing to know how to make the most of the light winds.
I got to the checkpoint about 4 hours past deadline. I had camped the first night exhausted, and forgot to set an alarm, slept for 8 1/2 hrs (too long). Though they forgave the late arrivals, I was just too tired, was not having any fun, and didnt see any changes in the weather to come. I am ok with it, I’d already done quite a few of these, and will probably try again next year.
