From SHERIFFofSNOTTINGHAM and Mankind:
Everglades Challenge 2026 ended sooner than Luke Norris and I wished due to an unrecoverable leak in the center hull of our boat. This happened early Sunday evening on the east side of Pine Island near Matlacha. Fortunately, we were well prepared for emergencies, some good people on a rental boat came to our aide, and the absolutely incredible owners of Matlacha Boat Club and Anglers Inn got us and the boat safely ashore and gave us a place to sleep for the night.
Also, Carlos Urbizu is our hero as our shore contact, and for driving early this morning to Matlacha with the trailer to pick us up.
Even with the disappointing end, this was an incredible adventure and Luke and I are already working on plans to make it all the way to the finish line in a future race! (in a different boat 😉)
