Prospector and Clewless at CP1 11:00am. “Well, that was fun!”

From Moko Jumbie
"The boat still leaks. But it leaks less and we have tons of power so we added a bilge pump."

Trybabytri made it to CP1 at 2:26 pm.

Re: EC2025 - The Facebook Thread
Mola Mola update: after a great day yesterday when Mary Mangiapia, Rod Price and I covered 62.5 miles in 16 hours, I did drop from the race this morning. The first 45-50 miles were great but after that the fatigue in my core and shoulders really set in and I was having the same back pain issues I had in 2022. We reached CP1 at 1230am and after a short rest at Don Pedro state park I was still hurting and not really able to paddle at the speed I would need to maintain to do another 50+ miles today. It was a bummer to have to stop so early but I had a fantastic day yesterday - the longest I have paddled in a day and at one point we were in about 10th place for the entire race! I did earn an Ultramarathon finish (2nd overall) which was great as well.
I am planning to go to CP2 to see Mary come in and then to CP3 and finally down to Key Largo Wednesday or Thursday. Can’t miss spending more time with my favorite group of people!
Thanks to everyone who sent well wishes and were following me on the tracker. I love the Everglades Challenge but my body seems to not like paddling the distances needed for a “plan A” finish. I’ll be back next year as a part of the Tupperware Navy!

Things were a little slow at Checkpoint 2. But Bryan & Hunter were on station and ready(?). 4 boats had already checked in a gone before I arrived at 2:00pm. “Sleepy” arrived while I was there (about 2:40 pm -high tide). Roo showed up to cheer folks on and I’m leaving to fish along Tamiami Trail & then hunt Iguanas in Miami

Re: EC2025 - The Facebook Thread
The final Triber is at CP1. Chief is here! Demonstrating the proper landing etiquette on the beach: amas & akas fully retracted.

Re: EC2025 - The Facebook Thread
Jibb is next to last at CP1. He’s going to stay here and decide what to do in the morning.

Re: EC2025 - The Facebook Thread
CP3 is springing into action. Gamera and Chainsaw are the first to arrive in Flamingo. High tide and favorable winds will help them get to Key Largo quickly!

Re: EC2025 - The Facebook Thread
Miscellaneous pics from CP1 today. We had a UM celebration lunch that some EC’ers and Cape Haze Marina staff were lucky enough to participate in. (Apologies to those who weren’t able to join us). Hot dogs, cookies, grapes, and chips for all!
It was a busy day but we all enjoyed it.
Many thanks to our badass crew here at CP1. We all worked around the clock and had a blast. All six of us were needed during the several crunch times.
