Scouted East Beach for Launch

Yesterday I scouted East Beach at Fort Desoto to see how it looks for Launch Day. It actually looks great and I suspect lots of sand was brought in. There is a sand berm roughly 3 feet high and 45 degree angle between the beach and the parking lot. This could be difficult for Classes 4, 5, and 6. Some in other classes might also have to work a bit. (I suggest getting into the Derby ASAP.)
At my advanced stage of decrepitude, I will have a challenge getting my Hobie TI over the berm. But I will get it done.
After the berm the beach slopes down to the water with a much reduced angle. Also, the length of usable beach for launching is much longer. We will have room for way more than 100 boats so fill up the roster.

I also scouted the boat ramp. Most of the ramps are open for use, BUT at this time only one dock actually has a floating dock installed. All the others are usable as a ramp, but do not have a dock installed. They are working on it and I believe it will be much better by launch day. See pictures below:

I will keep you posted as more of the park opens.
