Tracking, Tracking, Tracking!!!

During EC2026 we had lots of tracking issues.

• Tracking mode only, no use of OK or Custom messages at checkpoints.

• Using OK too far away from the checkpoints.

• Not turning on their tracking device while on the water.

• Improper setup when using Garmin so that OK, Custom, and Help messages cannot be identified.

Since all checkpoints are virtual, it is essential that your tracking device(s) are setup properly and used properly. This is easy to do and confirm. Just send each type of message while out paddling, sailing, hiking or bike riding. Then look at the Tracking Map. Select your name from the drop down and select Show Tracks and All Waypoints. Click on Regenerate View and there you are. Easy peasy.

One more thing, if you have two tracking devices, just use one of them during the event. Save the second in a safe and secure location as a backup. Two is one and one is none. But for practice, switch them up so that both get tested in our tracking map.
